Aston Martin "smiles" at Adrian Newey's work on its 2026 F1 car: "They're enjoying the results."

Aston Martin has focused virtually all of its resources on the 2026 Formula 1 season, in which engineer Adrian Newey will spearhead the team's transition to the Grand Circus' new technical regulations. After months of effort, Andy Cowell, the project's executive director, has commented that the team is very happy with the results they are already beginning to see .
"We are working exceptionally closely with our technical partners Aramco, Honda, and Valvoline as we move forward strongly into next season ," the chief engineer said in an exclusive interview with the official Aston Martin website.
"The technical partner in charge, Adrian Newey, has provided a huge boost to the approach the team is taking, and people are enjoying his work; they're smiling at the results they're seeing ," he said, giving Fernando Alonso's supporters hope for the upcoming season.
"We're focusing on what we can do every day to ensure the AMR26's performance is as robust as possible , but also how we can continue to improve everything at our disposal, whether that's optimizing the cutting-edge tools we have, training our people to get the most out of those new tools, or refining the engineering methods we use ," he added.
He also reassessed the performance of the 2025 car: "Our performance has been strong in several qualifying sessions recently, but past performance is no guarantee of future success . We optimized well in those sessions, executing our run plans and using tires intelligently, and that's something we need to look to continue this weekend."
And finally, he set his goals for the final races of the year in stone: "We have a third of the season left and we want to fight for points in each of the remaining eight races , but that will only be possible if we make the right decision and extract every last tenth of performance from the car."
